Cyclone is the complete solution for handling Point Clouds. With close to 200 years of pioneering solutions to measure the world, Leica products and services are trusted by professionals worldwide to help them capture, analyze, and present spatial information. Leica is best known for its broad array of products that capture accurately, model quickly, analyze easily, and visualize and present spatial information.
Cyclone allows you to capture scan data in the field, register multiple scans together, accurately and algorithmically model pipes and structural steel, as well as do minor animations and visualization. Cyclone is the base platform for exporting the cloud data to any other format you may need.
There are modules dedicated to generating a vast array of deliverables from reports, to 3D models, and light weight 3D data formats that can be distributed freely over the web. These modules support a wide range of industries and workflows.
The rich data inherent in 3D point clouds represents a major advantage over other sources of geometric information. Cyclone’s unique Object Database Client/Server software provides the highest performance environment for laser scanning projects. Cyclone makes it easy for users to manage data efficiently in databases by working concurrently, thereby reducing the need to copy and/or transmit large point cloud project files.
Leica Cyclone is comprised of individual software modules for different needs. The following modules apply to the Plant and Piping Design Industry:
Cyclone Basic – provides professionals with a set of tools for efficiently managing and executing laser scanning/High-Definition-Surveying projects. Professionals can collect and analyze laser scan data, while collaborating for better informed project decisions. In the field, Cyclone Basic operates time-of-flight and phase-based Leica Geosystems scanners. Users can manage scan parameters, scan target acquisition, field QA, digital imaging, geo-referencing and more depending on scanner capabilities. In the office, Cyclone Basic provides viewing and navigating of point clouds and 3D models, as well as measurement and markup/redlining.
Cyclone Register – aligns point clouds captured from different positions, quickly and accurately. It supports the use of Leica Geosystems HDS targets to geo-reference scan data, and the ability to align overlapping areas of point clouds – without the use of targets resulting in optimum registration, and provides significant time- and cost-savings by reducing the need to place and extract targets. Auto Registration allows fast, automatic alignment of scans. Visual Registration for quick alignment of scans of all types and sizes. 2D Thumbnail Window to easily identify matching scans quickly. For use with Leica Geosystems and third party scanners. Automatic target finding and fitting. Complete in-office management and editing of traverse data. Cloud-to-cloud registration – standalone or with targets.
Cyclone Model – enables professionals to use point clouds directly, to process them into objects for robust export into CAD (and other applications), and to allow robust import of data from CAD Cyclone-MODEL has the industry’s largest, most complete and automated set of tools for accurately modeling 3D point clouds as CAD geometry or as meshes for engineering, surveying, construction, architectural and related applications.
Cyclone Importer – provides users with the ability to work with scan data from third-party scanners within the industry’s most popular point cloud software solutions: Cyclone and CloudWorx. While Leica provides the industry’s leading laser scanners, some organizations have a need to utilize data from other vendors’ scanners, yet still want to take advantage of the capabilities of Cyclone. In addition to a user’s ability to work with any scan data in neutral formats (ASCII, PTS, PTX, and PTG), Cyclone allows users to work with point cloud data from third-party scanners in the native data format directly output by these scanners. Faro, Riegl, Optech and Z+F are currently supported.
Cyclone Server – lets your team members simultaneously access 3D point cloud data sets and/or models. This provides a collaborative design environment for large, complex projects, and can significantly reduce project execution time. Cyclone Server supports the simultaneous connection of up to ten ‘client’ users to the same data server in a network environment. These clients can be licensees of Cyclone Register, Model, Viewer, or Cyclone CloudWorx for AutoCAD. Leica Cyclone Server is standalone server software that can significantly reduce office schedules for High Definition Survey projects when more than one person is available to process laser scan data. It is particularly beneficial for large projects, multi-discipline projects, and projects with demanding schedules.
Cyclone Publisher – publishes point cloud data for online sharing and viewing. Used with Leica TruView and you have a true Cloud Solution with access to the Point Cloud data from any computer or hand-held device.
Cyclone Survey – combines high performance with a rich set of survey-specific tools for analyzing laser scan data and converting the data into deliverables. Cyclone SURVEY (a lower cost, survey-specific version of Leica Cyclone MODEL) boasts powerful visualization & point cloud navigation plus a complete tool set for High-Definition-Surveying (HDS™) applications in engineering, construction and asset management.
