I have installed the HASP Runtime drivers on not less than 1000 computers to enable CADWorx to run. In that time, there have been very few instances of failure but occasionally Sentinel (formerly Alladin) has had issues with a Windows Update. Well over the last few weeks I have seen a few Windows 7 Computers that fail. Basically, the Runtime Drivers install correctly (with the Windows GUI installer or Command Line Installer) but when you put the HASP Key in the USB port for some reason it fails to be recognized correctly. If you check the Device Manager the HASP Key shows up in the list but with a Red ‘X’ next to it – which we all know is not a ‘good thing’. In either case, something is amiss.
To fix the issue, the Drivers have to be installed manually – or should I say the old fashion way.
Step 1: Download – Please contact us for the drivers. I don’t have it posted at this point as we are working on our download section of the website.
Step 2: Once download, Right-Click on the Zip File, Click Properties and Press “Unblock” if available. Finally, Press “OK”. If “Unblock” is not visible then proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Unzip the Driver to a known location.
Step 4: Navigate to the Device Manager. It will be under Control Panel…System…Device Manager
Step 5: Select the HASP Key with the Red X. I have seen it under Other Devices and Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Step 6: Right-Click on the Device and Select “Update Driver Software…”
Step 7: Select “Browse My Computer For Driver Software…”
Step 8: Select “Let Me Pick From A List Of Device Drivers on My Computer…”
Step 9: Select “Have Disk…”
Step 10: Select “Browse…” on the Install from Disk Dialog
Step 11: Browse to the folder the Drivers were unzipped to in Step 3.
Step 12: You will find three “.INF” files. First Select the “akshasp.inf” file. This should set up the first two driver entries under the USB Devices in Device Manager.
Step 13: Another Device now may or may not appear with a Red Mark. If it does then repeat the step above for this Device but select the “akshhl.inf” Driver.
Step 14: The Drivers should now be correctly installed and you should be able to run CADWorx.
