Hello,
There were some questions after CADWorx PLANT Professional R2 Webinar and I wanted to get them answered and posted so here goes…
Question: Any improvements in the CADWorx PLANT 2013 Ductile specification – if not is it still on target for July release?
Answer: ECE is working on a CADWorx 2013 Ductile Iron Catalog. We are working to have it issued to our customer base by mid-February.
Question: Can you convert a 2012 CADWorx PLANT component if you don’t have the legacy spec for that component?
Answer: Yes, you can add the component into a CADWorx 2013 Catalog and a CADWorx 2013 Specification inside a “PRJ” file and it will still convert.
Question: Please show what the CADWorx PLANT “Auto Coupling” did during the conversion.
Answer: Auto-coupling will have no impact on the conversion because it only converts what is in the model being converted. This rule only applies to piping that is modeled in 2013 with the rule turned on and the required maximum pipe length settings in the catalog with that rule turned on as well.
Question: What happens if you don’t change over from CADWorx PLANT 2012 and use CADWorx PLANT 2013 with all the parts drawn, with the exception of what connects to CADWorx 2012 parts, still work properly as CADWorx 2013 parts?
Answer: I’m not positive of what is being asked here so I could use some clarification. If the question is can we elect to leave the model as CADWorx 2012 except the parts that we need to connect to with CADWorx 2013 components then the answer is: “Yes you can”. You can still run a complete BOM across the entire model and even run ISOGENacross lines that are made up of both 2012 and 2013 components as well as send those same hybrid lines to CAESAR II for analysis. The unconverted components will be un-editable in CADWorx 2013 until or unless converted to CADWorx 2013 format – automatically. If this doesn’t answer your question please contact us for clarification.
